Difficulty and Preparation

FULL DAY

Day 1: Cusco – Tinqui – Upis Cocha

The day begins early with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. The bus ride will take you through the South Valley, offering panoramic views, until you reach the village of Tinqui, which serves as the starting point for many treks in the area.

From Tinqui, you will begin a gradual ascent. The trail will take you through a beautiful valley, with the imposing Ausangate Mountain rising in the distance. The hike is of moderate difficulty and will allow you to gradually acclimatize to the altitude. Your destination for the night is the community of Upis Cocha, a site famous for its natural hot springs. Upon reaching the camp, you can relax in the hot pools with a spectacular view of the glacier, a perfect reward after the trek.

Day 2: Upis Cocha – 7 Lagoons – Cusco

After a hot breakfast, you’ll prepare for the most impressive day yet. You’ll leave the Upis Cocha camp to begin the hike toward the famous Ausangate 7 Lagoons circuit. The ascent is demanding, but every step brings you closer to a natural spectacle of colors.

As you advance, you’ll discover the lagoons one by one, whose waters vary from intense blue to vibrant turquoise, reflecting the sky and the snow-capped peaks. You’ll be very close to the Ausangate Glacier, experiencing its majesty. After exploring the seven lagoons and taking countless photographs, you’ll begin the descent back to Upis.

Once you arrive at the camp, a bus will be waiting for you to begin the return trip to Cusco, where you’ll arrive in the afternoon after completing an unforgettable adventure.

Equipo y Ropa

    • Ropa térmica para las noches (hace mucho frío en Soraypampa).

  • Sandalias/tenis ligeros: para descansar en los campamentos.
  • Sombrero, bloqueador solar y lentes de sol (sol fuerte a gran altura).
  • Guantes, gorro y bufanda (frío en la madrugada).
  • Linterna frontal con pilas extra.
  • Saco de dormir de -10°C (si no, alquilar).

Alimentación e Hidratación

  • Llevar botella reutilizable o camelback (mínimo 1.5–2 L).
  • Tabletas purificadoras de agua o filtro personal.
  • Snacks energéticos: frutos secos, chocolate, barras de cereal.
  • Evitar alcohol y comidas muy pesadas durante el trek.

Consejos de Salud y Seguridad

  • Caminar a tu ritmo, sin apurarse (especialmente en la subida a Salkantay Pass, 4,650 m).
  • Usar hojas de coca o pastillas de sorojchi si hay síntomas de mal de altura.
  • Protegerse del frío en la noche y del sol en el día (cambios bruscos de clima).
  • Llevar un botiquín personal: analgésicos, curitas, medicamentos propios.
  • Respetar las indicaciones del guía siempre.
